Chicago review - December 2024
Visiting Chicago for the first time during the holiday season was an unforgettable experience! The city transforms into a winter wonderland, filled with twinkling lights, festive decorations, and that classic Midwest charm.
My trip began with a visit to the Christkindlmarket, Chicago's iconic European-inspired Christmas market. Strolling through the charming wooden stalls filled with handcrafted ornaments, warm pretzels, and steaming mugs of glühwein was like stepping into a holiday postcard. The atmosphere was magical, and it’s a must-do for anyone visiting during this time of year.
Of course, I couldn’t miss The Bean (Cloud Gate) in Millennium Park, surrounded by the sparkling downtown skyline. The area was beautifully lit for Christmas, complete with a giant tree and a picturesque ice-skating rink nearby. Watching skaters glide under the festive lights while holiday music played was the perfect way to soak in the holiday spirit.
One of the highlights of my trip was a full-day tour of movie locations from John Hughes’ iconic films. As a fan of his work, it was thrilling to see the Sixteen Candles house, the Home Alone house in Winnetka, and even the famous staircase from The Breakfast Club. The tour also included stops at locations from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, like the Art Institute of Chicago and other memorable spots. It was like stepping into the movies and reliving my favorite scenes!
Chicago is also a food lover’s paradise, and I had the chance to try some incredible restaurants. Whether it was deep-dish pizza, gourmet burgers, or fine dining with a view of the skyline, every meal was a treat. The city’s culinary scene is as diverse as it is delicious, making it a highlight of the trip.
Beyond the sights and food, what struck me most about Chicago was its beauty and vibrancy. From the holiday lights lining Michigan Avenue to the warmth of the people, the city felt welcoming and alive with holiday cheer.
If you’re looking for a destination to make your holiday season even more special, Chicago should be at the top of your list. Between the festive atmosphere, iconic landmarks, and unique experiences like the John Hughes movie tour, this trip was an incredible way to kick off the season—and I can’t wait to go back!
Cancun Mexico review - October 2024
I recently traveled to Cancun, Mexico, for the ALG Ascend Conference, and it was an unforgettable mix of professional growth, fun, and relaxation. The conference was packed with opportunities to learn and grow as a travel agent, from insightful classes to networking with vendors. But what really made the trip special were the incredible accommodations, unique experiences, and some unforgettable dining.
For the conference, I stayed at the Breathless Cancun Soul Resort, an adults-only paradise. While the beach may not have been the standout feature, the resort more than made up for it with its luxurious pools, exclusive VIP areas, and outstanding dining options. Every meal felt like a treat, and the lively atmosphere made it easy to transition from productive conference sessions to fun parties and activities in the evenings.
One of the most memorable experiences was dining at Kin Toh, where I had the chance to enjoy dinner literally in the treetops. Nestled in nest-like tables perched high above the restaurant, the ambiance was magical, and the creative cuisine made it a truly extraordinary experience. It felt like stepping into a dream, and it’s something I’d recommend to anyone visiting the area.
After the conference, I headed to the Riviera Maya for some much-needed downtime at the Barceló Riviera Maya, another stunning adults-only resort. The lush surroundings, gorgeous pools, and delectable restaurants made it the perfect place to unwind after a busy travel season. The highlight of my stay here was the spa—truly a haven of tranquility. From rejuvenating treatments to serene relaxation areas, it was exactly what I needed to recharge.
I also took time to visit a local cenote, where I swam in the crystal-clear waters surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. It was an awe-inspiring experience and a reminder of the unique wonders that Mexico has to offer.
Overall, this trip was the perfect balance of work and leisure. Cancun and Riviera Maya offered incredible opportunities for professional development, luxurious accommodations, and moments of relaxation and wonder. Whether you’re attending a conference, planning a getaway, or looking for both, these destinations are sure to deliver an unforgettable experience!
New Orleans review - September 2024
I recently traveled to New Orleans for a work trip and discovered that the Big Easy is the perfect destination to mix business with pleasure. From the lively streets to the incredible food and music, every moment in this vibrant city felt like a celebration of life!
In my downtime, I made the most of exploring what New Orleans has to offer. No trip to NOLA is complete without a visit to Bourbon Street. The energy was contagious as live music poured out from every corner, and I couldn’t help but join in the fun. Whether you’re into jazz, blues, or just people-watching, there’s something magical about the atmosphere here.
The food in New Orleans is in a league of its own, and I had to try their famous oysters. Whether charbroiled or raw, they were absolutely delicious and lived up to the hype. I also indulged in other local delicacies like gumbo and beignets that I’ll be dreaming about for months.
One of the most memorable experiences was joining a second line parade. Dancing alongside brass bands and other revelers through the streets was pure joy—it felt like I’d stepped into the heart of the city’s soul. The second line is such a quintessential New Orleans tradition, and being a part of it was truly unforgettable.
I also got the chance to visit Mardi Gras World, where the magic of Carnival comes to life year-round. Touring the workshop where the iconic floats are created gave me a new appreciation for the artistry and effort that go into the celebration. It was fascinating to see the behind-the-scenes process and learn about the rich history of Mardi Gras.
Even with a packed work schedule, New Orleans offered so much to explore, and every experience felt like a mini adventure. The mix of history, culture, music, and food makes this city unlike any other. Whether you’re visiting for work, pleasure, or both, New Orleans is sure to leave you with unforgettable memories and a longing to return.
Boston review - July 2024
This summer, I traveled to Boston to drop my son off at Berklee College of Music for a week-long summer camp, and I decided to stay and explore the city while he immersed himself in his musical passion. Boston turned out to be the ideal mix of history, charm, and great food—it was a trip I’ll never forget!
The city’s rich history was on full display as I visited iconic spots like the Freedom Trail, where I strolled past landmarks such as the Paul Revere House, Old North Church, and the site of the Boston Massacre. I also spent time at the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum, where interactive exhibits and costumed reenactments brought history to life.
One afternoon, I wandered through the beautiful Boston Common and Public Garden, enjoying the serene swan boats and the lively atmosphere. Later, I made my way to Beacon Hill, with its picturesque cobblestone streets and charming brick townhouses, for some leisurely exploration and great photo opportunities.
A highlight of my trip was having lunch at Cheers, the iconic bar that inspired the beloved TV show. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the food hit the spot—it’s a must-visit for fans of the series or anyone looking for a fun dining experience. And then topped it off with a Boston Red Sox Game!
We also did the Duck boat tour which was so fun seeing the city from the water. The Harvard Square area in nearby Cambridge was another gem, where I enjoyed browsing the quirky shops and grabbing a coffee while soaking in the academic vibes of Harvard University.
Boston’s compact layout made it easy to navigate, whether by walking or using the T, the city’s subway system. Everywhere I went, I found something to admire, whether it was the historical sites, the vibrant neighborhoods, or the incredible dining options.
This trip was a memorable mix of learning, relaxation, and adventure. Dropping my son off at Berklee College of Music gave me the perfect excuse to explore one of America’s most historic cities, and I left feeling enriched and inspired. If you’re looking for a destination that combines culture, history, and fun, Boston is the place to go!
Las Vegas review - June 2024
Who says Las Vegas is just for adults? Our recent family trip to the Entertainment Capital of the World proved that Vegas is packed with activities the whole family can enjoy. From exciting shows to unique attractions, there was never a dull moment, and my kids are already asking when we can go back!
We packed so much into our trip, starting with some incredible performances. The Blue Man Group had the kids laughing and captivated with their colorful antics and percussion-heavy show. The Jabbawockeez delivered an electrifying dance performance that had us all mesmerized. We even saw a BattleBots match, which was a thrilling and action-packed experience.
One of the highlights of our trip was visiting The Sphere. This stunning new attraction blew us away with its cutting-edge visuals and immersive show—it’s truly like stepping into another world. Another unforgettable moment was riding the High Roller, the world’s tallest observation wheel, which gave us breathtaking views of the Las Vegas Strip and beyond.
Dining in Las Vegas was another pleasant surprise. We found plenty of kid-friendly restaurants that served up fun vibes and delicious food. Whether it was pizza, burgers, or unique desserts, there was something to please even the pickiest eaters.
We also discovered a hidden gem that became the kids’ favorite: FlyOver Las Vegas. This exhilarating flight simulation took us soaring over the stunning landscapes of Iceland. The experience was so breathtaking that it’s inspired us to consider Iceland as our next family destination!
While we walked a lot to explore all that Vegas has to offer, the sights and attractions kept the kids entertained every step of the way. From colorful street performances to exploring themed hotels, there was always something new and exciting to see.
Las Vegas turned out to be a surprisingly family-friendly destination that offered adventure, entertainment, and memories we’ll cherish forever. If you’re looking for a fun and unique getaway with your kids, don’t overlook Las Vegas—it’s a trip they’ll be talking about for years to come!
San Diego & Disneyland review - April 2024:
A perfect family getaway!
Recently, my family and I enjoyed a fantastic trip to Southern California, starting with a direct flight from Norfolk (ORF) to San Diego (SAN) on Breeze Airways. The convenience of a non-stop flight cannot be overstated, especially when traveling with children. Breeze made it easy and stress-free, allowing us to arrive rested and ready to explore.
We stayed for a week at the Hyatt Vacation Club in Escondido, where our spacious two-bedroom condo became the perfect home base. The accommodations were comfortable, family-friendly, and included all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay.
Our trip was packed with activities that appealed to every member of the family. We embarked on an unforgettable whale-watching tour, where the kids were thrilled to spot dolphins and even a few whales. Exploring the charming Old Town San Diego provided a taste of the region’s history, culture, and incredible food. Of course, we couldn’t miss the beautiful beaches, where the kids enjoyed building sandcastles and splashing in the Pacific Ocean. And topped it off with a visit to the San Diego Wild Life Animal Park.
One of the highlights of our trip was a day at Disneyland and California Adventure Park. It was a long, exciting day—over 20,000 steps! But every moment was worth it. From classics like It's a Small World and Pirates of the Caribbean to more thrilling rides like Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! and Radiator Springs Racers, there was something for everyone. Watching the kids’ faces light up at the parades and fireworks made all the walking worthwhile.
Overall, this trip was easy to plan and even easier to enjoy. Breeze Airways’ direct flight simplified our travel, and the variety of activities in and around Escondido ensured there was never a dull moment. I highly recommend this trip for families looking for a mix of adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable memories.
MSC Meraviglia review - June 2023:
My recent cruise to the Bahamas was an absolute dream on the MSC cruise line. This new ship out of the Brooklyn Port was incredibly luxurious with spacious cabins and plenty of amenities to keep us entertained throughout the journey. Hands down this cruise ship had the best entertainment I’ve experienced so far on any cruise line. There was always something to do! From the restaurants, the Broadway shows, the cirque shows, the evening dance parties including the White party and snow parties, it was a whirlwind!
The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure that all our needs were met. The highlight of the trip was definitely the beautiful beaches in the Bahamas with crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. Ocean Cay, the MSC private island didn’t disappoint! Beautiful beaches and the best thing was staying there until the sun went down for the beach DJ party!
My only complaint was the lack of variety of the food. It could use some improvement but the pizza was the best pizza I’ve ever had (seriously, this is an Italian cruise line and they knew how to make it!).
Overall, it was a fantastic experience that exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this cruise to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation with family or friends.
Royal Caribbean Cruise out of Port Orlando - April 2023
The Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's Freedom of the Seas offers an excellent vacation option for travelers looking to explore the Bahamas. The ship boasts numerous amenities such as a rock-climbing wall, multiple pools and hot tubs, and a variety of dining options. The staterooms are comfortable and well-appointed, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The ports of call in the Bahamas provide ample opportunities for adventure, whether it be lounging on pristine beaches or exploring local culture and history.
We traveled with a few other families and really enjoyed the amenities on board. Unfortunately, it rained most of the time so we spent most of the cruise indoors, but they did offer enough entertainment for the adults and kids on board. My only issue is that they still allow smoking in the casino and it permeates to the entire floor and its not fun to walk through when going to the other side of the ship. The food was good, not memorable. Castaway Cay was a beautiful island but it rained so we didn't get to enjoy it as much. I do recommend this particular ship for the budget conscious families who want to experience a fun and easy 4 night cruise to the Bahamas.
ETS Tours review - 8 days in Jordan - January 2023
After a long 24 hour travel day, we landed in Jordan and we were met at the airport by the staff of EF Tours which took us to the hotel via motor coach. All dinners (and breakfasts) were included so we changed and went to the hotel restaurant to dine and meet the others attending the tour group. What a great bunch to tour with! We enjoyed the food and spent the next several days traveling together and sharing a wonderful adventure.
During my visit to Jordan, I was amazed by the country's rich history and stunning landscapes. One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the ancient city of Petra, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city was carved into pink sandstone cliffs and features impressive tombs, temples, and a theater. I also enjoyed exploring the Wadi Rum desert, which is known for its unique red sandstone formations and was the filming location for several famous movies. Additionally, I had the opportunity to float in the Dead Sea, which is the lowest point on earth and known for its therapeutic properties. Overall, my trip to Jordan was an unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone interested in history, culture, and natural beauty.
Ambergris Island in Belize - Alaia Belize Resort - April 2022
As an agent, I am always on the hunt for the best beach vacation for my clients. I was offered to visit the brand new Alaia Belize resort on the island of Ambergris and was not disappointed. The property was beautiful! The only issue (as is with most islands right now) was the sargassum seaweed. We were unable to swim at the hotel beach, but found what the locals call "Secret Beach" and found the most heavely beautiful blue water. We rented a golf cart for the few days we were there to enjoy touring around the island and seeing some stunning sunsets.
During my visit to Ambergris Island in Belize, I was amazed by the stunning beauty of the island. The crystal-clear waters and white sandy beaches were breathtaking. I also enjoyed exploring the local culture and trying out the delicious seafood cuisine. The island offers a variety of water activities, such as snorkeling and scuba diving, which allowed me to witness the vibrant marine life up close. Overall, my experience on Ambergris Island was unforgettable and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tropical getaway.
Disney Cruise Line out of Port Orlando - July 2022
Disney Cruise Line offers a magical and unforgettable experience for families and Disney fans alike. The ships are beautifully designed and offer a wide range of activities, entertainment, and dining options. The kids' clubs are top-notch, giving parents a chance to relax while their children are entertained by Disney-trained counselors. The food is delicious and the service is exceptional. The onboard entertainment includes Broadway-style shows, character meet-and-greets, and first-run Disney movies.
My favorite part of the Disney Cruise was, well, EVERYTHING! It is by far my most favorite cruise line for kids and adults. There is an adult only section to enjoy while the kids are in the largest playroom on an cruise ship I've ever seen. Disney is known for their customer service, but it was extremely exceptional in my opinion. Every little detail, from the towel animals, little chocolates left on the pillows, to the staff remembering everyones name at dinner. The food was to die for, as well as the drinks. It was an unforgettable experience and I highly recommend the Disney Cruise line for all families to try at least once!
Carnival Cruise Line out of Charleston port - April 2022
The Carnival Cruise Line to the Bahamas is a popular choice for many travelers. The ship offers a variety of activities and amenities, including multiple pools, a water park, and a casino. The dining options are plentiful, with both casual and formal restaurants available. The staff is friendly and accommodating, making for a pleasant experience. I went with two of my kids and my Mom and we all fit into one cabin comfortably (two twin beds and bunk beds for the kids in a balcony stateroom).
We have been to the Bahamas several times so we decided when we arrived to Nassau, we would get a day pass to Margaritaville. It was the best decision because they have a restaurant on site and a water park! The kids loved it.
Overall, the Carnival Cruise Line to the Bahamas is a great option for those looking for a fun and relaxing vacation.
